Drywall Installation Schaumburg Il
Sometimes accidents can cause damages to our drywalls. These can be either scratches and dents or larger holes. Whatever the size of your repair job, our team at Schaumburg Painters have the ability to be able to rectify these for you, so that your home doesn’t start to look rundown due to lack of maintenance. We explain more about the repair process here, and why it is always best to select a reputable company to complete your repair works.
Surface Preparation Just as it is with many items, your drywall repair job will only be as good as its foundation. This means that we need to do adequate surface preparation works to ensure that the repair job will be able to blend in with the rest of your wall, as well as stand the test of time. To do this we will need to cut out any parts of the wall that are protruding to ensure that when the repair works are conducted, we are able to work on a flat surface and ensure that the completed project is smooth and to a high standard. Repair Process The repair process is dependent on the size of the repair job we have been requested to do. If we are repairing a smaller hole in the wall or just a few dents, we are able to use a self-adhesive mesh to cover the area. We then use this as our foundation to cover the plaster and ensure that we can smooth it out to match the surrounding wall. If we are working on a larger repair job, for example someone has taken a fall and gone straight into the drywall, we then cut out around the hole to make the lines straight so that we can put in place a replacement sheet of plaster and then join this to the rest of the wall. Finishing When the drywall repair task has been completed, we then have to allow the plaster to dry. This is generally a quick process, however it is necessary to ensure that the area is not touched whilst drying as it may affect the integrity or appearance of your repair work. When the plaster has dried, we then start working on sanding the area back. This step is to make sure that we get the wall surface completely flat so that it can blend in with the rest of the wall, so that you will hardly notice that there was ever a hole there. Color Matching Once the repair works and leveling of the wall have been completed, it is likely that you will require painting of the area to match the wall. If you already know the color used on your wall, this is useful information to speed up the process, however we are able to find this if you are unsure. Depending on the age of your last paint job, you may require your whole wall to be repainted to ensure that the repair blends in seamlessly. |
